The Veterans of Foreign Wars was originally founded in 1899 as the American Veterans of Foreign Service, the VFW continues to be a voice for veterans, currently deployed members of our Armed Forces and their families.
Remember that Programs keep your VFW Post viable in the community and play a big part in keeping your Post, District and Department strong and a part of our great National Organization. Programs also assure that you retain your tax exempt status. Click link to get started.
"IN FLANDERS FIELDS THE POPPIES BLOW..." These opening words of Col. John McCrae's immortal poem are known to every child in the United States. Dedicated to the memory of the men who fought and died in France during World War I, the Poppies of which he wrote have become the true symbol of all those who have given their lives in our nation's wars.
Coming home doesn't mean the battle is over. With over 10 times the amount of veterans lost to suicide than to combat operations in the same time period, there has never been a more important time to TAKE A STAND and DO something to support our veterans!! If you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, we have people that have shared a similar experience and are ready to help.
Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938.
Those three words reverently dictate what you can be, what you will be. ~ Douglas MacArthur
MESSAGE FROM OUR STATE COMMANDER TONY PURDY
VISION FOR THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS
We will strive to ensure veterans are respected for their service, receive their earned entitlements and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country. And to ensure their children spouse ‘orphans and widows are taken care of this year, our special project is the Florida cottage in Eaton Rapids MI at the VFW National home for Children. The home is where families left behind by war can remain together, keeping the family circle intact even when the serviceman or women didn’t come home
To leverage values of Commitment, Excellence, Integrity, and Selfless Service to strengthen our dedication of advocating for our veterans.
Together We Can!!!

State Adjutant/Quartermaster’s Message
Comrades, it is now time to work our membership list and work them hard and fast.
We have a goal of reaching 90+ % by December 31, 2019 and we will make that happen.
Make those phone calls now, Go and knock on the doors of our members you haven’t seen and ask how they are doing. See if they need any help because we all know Veterans are very proud people and will not ask for help.
Sometimes all it takes is showing them some love and that we care. If they confide in you that they need help use your relief fund. That is what it is there for.
We can do this Florida, WHY, because we are Second to None and once again this year we will get our Department to 100 + %
Commanders at all levels please get out there and continue to send the most important message we have.
