JROTC/ROTC

WHAT IS JROTC?

JROTC, or Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps, is a High School program sponsored by the U.S> Armed Forces aimed at developing leadership and citizenship skills in students. It is not a recruitment program for the military, but rather a citizenship development program. JROTC Programs are offered at secondary schools across the country and are led by retired military personnel.

WHAT IS ROTC?

ROTC, which stands for Reserve Officers' Training Corps, is a college program designed to train and prepare students to become commissioned officers in the US Military. It's offered by the Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Marine Corps ( through the Navy program). Participants in the ROTC take military science courses alongside their regular college coursework, participate in leadership development, and receive military training. Upon graduation, ROTC students are commissioned as officers in their chosen branch of the military.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) actively supports JROTC and ROTC programs by recognizing outstanding cadets, providing financial assistance, and fostering community engagement. They offer awards for leadership and achievement, sponsor units, and encourage participation in community service projects.
