Ron joined VFW Post 4256 in Madeira Beach in 2010.  Ron has served as Post Commander since 2011, receiving All State Honors numerous times.  Ron has also served as District 9 Adjutant, Junior Vice Commander, Senior Vice Commander and District 9 Commander in 2015-2016.  Ron's appointments have included National Assistant Inspector General (2016-2017),  National Aide-de-Camp and Aide to Junior Vice Commander (2017-2018), Chairman for Commander Special Project (2017-2018), National Deputy Chief of Staff and Aide to Senior Vice Commander (2018-2019), and Department Budget and Finance Committee Member (2017-Present) State Commander 2022-2023

 

Ron joined the United States Army in 1970 and was honorably discharged from the Army Reserves in 1983.  Ron served in Vietnam with the 5thSpecial Forces in 1970-1971.  His medals include Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Vietnam Service and 2 Army Commendation Medals.

 

Ron retired from General Motors after 32 years of service.  He was also a Paramedic, Swartz Creek Area Fire Department Fire Chief, and Michigan Fire Service Instructor. Ron graduated with honors from Mott Community College with an Associate Degree in Public Fire Protection.

 

Ron and his wife Cheryl live in St. Petersburg and have 4 children and 6 grandchildren between them.  Ron is also a member of the MOC, American Legion and Elks.
