He has been awarded National Aide-de-Camp status on two occasions and National Deputy Chief of Staff once. Mac retired from the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 years. On the way to retirement he spent tours of duty as a student in Tennessee, then on to Naval Station Bermuda where he served as an air crewman flying P5M seaplanes. After a tour in Norfolk it was on to Roosevelt Roads and the Hurricane Hunters for five years then to Pax River which resulted in two tours in Vietnam in 1967-1968. After that to NAS Cecil Field where he retired in 1974. Some of the awards along the way included the Air Medal (3 awards), Combat action, Navy Commendation medal, Navy Achievement award, Good Conduct (4), Armed Forces Expeditionary award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After retiring from the Navy
Mac worked in management at Burger King before buying his own delicatessen in
Pennsylvania. All while earning his Real Estate and Appraiser’s license.
He has been married to his wife Yvonne for 48 years and they have 6 children, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. They reside in Orange Park just outside of Jacksonville.
